FITNESS CENTER

833 East has been awarded LEED Gold Recertification for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance through version 4.1. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and an international symbol of excellence.

833 East initially achieved LEED Silver certification through New Construction, Core and Shell in 2016. LEED Version 4.1 takes a performance-based approach to recertification. This recertification allows existing buildings to recertify using annual performance data from utility bills and audits. Annual data is entered into the 5 categories within the rating system Energy, Water, Waste, Transportation, and Human Experience. Annual performance activities include a two-question survey, Indoor Air Quality testing, a waste assessment, and energy and water utility information. The assessment of these key categories on an annual basis allows ownership and building management to be proactive with the building’s performance and to make meaningful improvements to building operations that save money, resources, and time and assist with keeping occupants engaged and comfortable.
